A homeless man was arrested on April 25 for stealing a car from Brookville Farms.
Police say 40-year-old John Shute entered a Chevy Suburban at 3:45 p.m. that was parked at 1472 Route 107 and fled.
Responding Old Brookville Police Officers located the car driving southbound on Route 107. The officers stopped the vehicle and placed Shute under arrest.
During the investigation Shute was found in the possession of a black wallet containing credit cards and personal papers reported stolen earlier in the day from a female victim’s vehicle in Roslyn, according to police. It was determined that Shute used the victim’s credit card to purchase items at a gas station.
Shute is charged with second-degree forgery and two counts of grand larceny.
