Temple Or Elohim of Jericho welcomes Ruth Mermelstein, a survivor of Auschwitz on April 28 at 7 p.m. Her testimony is clear and unequivocal and should not be missed. Ruth was born in Sighet, Hungary and was sent to Auschwitz at the age of fourteen. Along with her sister, Ruth survived Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen and a death march before being liberated in April of 1945. After liberation, while Ruth was unable to leave Europe, her sister was able to move to America. Only in 1955 was Ruth able to come to America where she was reunited with her sister and began her new life. – Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County
