Saturday, May 24
Memorial Day Parade
The Village of New Hyde Park will hold its Memorial Day Parade and Tribute at 10 a.m. The parade will start at Lakeville Road and travel east on Jericho Turnpike to Village Hall at 1420 Jericho Tpke. A short ceremony will take place, after which the veterans will lay a wreath at the monument in tribute of their fallen brothers. The procession will then continue north on New Hyde Park Road to Memorial Park for a short service and wreath laying.

Author Visit
Meet author Porochista Khakpour at 7:30 p.m. in the community room of the Great Neck Library,at 159 Bayview Ave. She will discuss her
new novel, The Last Illusion. There will be a book sale and signing at
the event and audience Q&A. The book tells the story of a strangely tortured soul, and the people and worlds in Iran and America that
have warped, nurtured and redeemed him.
