“This is serious, and we must all take steps towards prevention” Dello stated.
We know there is a predisposition with family history, but we can reduce our risk factors by addressing the obvious; certainly stop smoking, addressing hypertension (high blood pressure), managing your weight and obesity factors, by making sure your keeping your body fat under 30% is crucial. In addition managing your stress, we know stress can cause a cascade of illnesses. Dello also addressed how important it is to read labels, while looking for hidden sugars which causes inflammation, a major contributor to heart disease.
“ I feel I became more mindful after the lecture, I loved all the food examples Ms. Dello brought and feel it’s so important to make healthy changes in our daily life to avoid heart disease. I truly enjoyed how Maria Dello showed the group how making small changes can greatly benefit in your overall health. I already added cinnamon to my oatmeal in the A.M. I was happy to hear the health benefits. It was so informative and fun to have Maria Dello speak at the Junior league, we are delighted to have her and always look forward to her annual nutritional lecture.” Donna Fiore Junior League member
