Town’s Scouts Honored

Town Supervisor Kate Murray and members of the town board honored an impressive group of Eagle Scouts and Gold Award recipients during a special ceremony held on Saturday, June 7, at the Norman J. Levy Park and Preserve in Merrick, including Krista Longobardi, a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient from Floral Park. Longobardi spoke to the group about her project, which focused on finding homes for homeless pets, and educating her community on pet care and adoptions.

The town’s approximately 200 Eagle Scout and Girl Scout Gold Award recipients were invited to the 9th Annual Scout Recognition Ceremony. Murray presented each Scout with official town certificates and special patches to commemorate their rise to the highest levels in Scouting.

During the ceremony, Murray was also joined by Town Clerk Nasrin Ahmad and several Scout officials, including Girl Scouts of Nassau County CEO Donna Ceravolo and Board President Wanda Jackson; and Theodore Roosevelt Council of the Boy Scouts of America Scout Executive Jay Garee, Council President Salvatore Ciampo and Council Commissioner Eric Anderson.
