If your weekend plans include taking in Saturday’s Zac Brown Band concert – MTA Long Island Rail Road and New York City Transit are the quickest and most convenient ways to get you to Forest Hills Stadium. The three-time Grammy winners will be playing to a sell-out crowd at the Queens-area venue on Saturday, June 20
.
With area parking limited, the LIRR is providing additional service for concertgoers before and after the show by adding stops on eastbound and westbound Main Line trains that normally bypass Forest Hills station. LIRR customers are reminded to board one of the first four cars of the train as only those cars can platform at Forest Hills station.
Direct subway service is available to the Forest Hills-71st St. Station via regularly scheduled E F M R trains. The Forest Hills Stadium area is also served by the Q23 bus.
Doors to the concert open at 5 p.m. with the show getting underway at 6 p.m. The LIRR will make Forest Hills station stops between 3 and 6:30 p.m. and again between 9:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Port Washington Branch trains do not stop at Forest Hills so those customers must change trains at Woodside for service to and from Forest Hills.
Originally built in 1923 as the home of the U.S. Open tennis tournament, Forest Hills Stadium has played host to the greats of tennis and music. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Barbara Streisand, and Simon & Garfunkel all graced the stage at Forest Hills during its heyday in the 1960s and 1970s.
