Farmingdale Board of Education

The next organizational meeting of the Farmingdale Board of Education will be held at 7 p.m. on July 9 in the Weldon E. Howitt Middle School Cafeteria. 

Thursday, July 10

Zoning Board

The meeting of the Village of Farmingdale Zoning Board will be held at 8 p.m. on July 10, at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale. 

 

Summer Open House & BBQ 

On July 10, Ed Mojica Installations, at 777 Conklin St. in Farmingdale, will be hosting its Summer Open House and Barbecue from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Join EMI, Beth Mignone (Mignone Masonry), 94.3 The Shark Radio & Friends. The event is free and fun for all ages. There will be face painting and other activities for kids. Stop by for a free lunch, beverages, snacks and more. Herman’s Hermits

Part of the Town of Oyster Bay “Music Under the Stars” Summer Concert series, on July 10, rock out with Brit rockers Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone, at 8 p.m., as they perform Ellsworth W. Allen Town Park, 45 Motor Ave., Farmingdale.

Friday, July 11

Birds of Prey

On July 11, the Tackapausha Museum and Preserve will be bringing a bird of prey to the Farmingdale Public Library at 116 Merritts Rd. at 3 p.m. The program is open for kids in grades 3-5 and registration is available online at farmingdalelibrary.org.

 

Social Media Boot Camp

On July 11, Briarcliffe College, at 1055 Stewart Ave. in Bethpage, will be hosting a half-day event, from 7:30 a.m.-noon, featuring several interactive workshops to help businesses and nonprofits improve social media skills while learning and networking. Hosted by the Fair Media Council. Admission is $115 or $65 with a student ID. 

Saturday, July 12

Larger Than Life

On July 12, join Adventureland’s mascot Alfie at 1 p.m. for a free performance featuring popular boy band hits of the decade, from the Jersey Boys to the Backstreet Boys, One Direction, and more. 

 

Long Island Women’s 5K Run

On July 12, join runners outside Farmingdale High School at 9 a.m. for a 5K run, hosted by the Greater Long Island Running Club in conjunction with the Runner’s Edge, located at 242 Main St. in Farmingdale. 

 

Registration costs $20 in advance, $25 on the day of the race. There will also be a non-competitive fun run for girls which will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. 

Tuesday, July 15

Meet and Greet the Rebels

On July 15, join the members of the Long Island Roller Rebels Roller Derby team, from 8-10 p.m., for this meet and greet event at Buffalo Wild Wings, 1080 Broad Hollow Rd. in Farmingdale. For more information visit longislandrollerrebels.com.

Wounded Warrior Dinner

On July 16, the American Airpower Museum at 1230 New Highway in East Farmingdale will be holding a special dinner reception at 6 p.m. for those competing in the upcoming Wounded Warrior Soldier Ride on July 18. Tickets cost $50 and include dinner, beer, wine, soda and live music. You can also meet with Soldier Ride participants.

Youth Council Concert

On July 17, join the Farmingdale Youth Council, from 6:30-8:15 p.m., for a special concert on the Village Green. 

 

Farmingdale Hawks

The next meeting of the Farmingdale Hawks athletic club will be held from 8:30-10 p.m. at Farmingdale Village Hall, 361 Main St., Farmingdale.

 

DJ Dancetime

On July 17, Adventureland amusement park will be having a dance party, at 5 p.m., when DJ Dancetime will be spinning the hottest dance tracks and giving out awesome prizes. 

Friday, July 18

7th Annual Wounded Warrior Soldier Bike Ride

Registration for the 25-mile bicycle race from Lindenhurst to Overlook Beach in the nearby Town of Babylon, will begin at 7 a.m. sharp on July 18. Cost is $60 to participate. All proceeds from the event go to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. 

 

Riders will line up at Babylon Town Hall at 9 a.m. for the opening ceremonies, with the ride to begin around 9:30 a.m. After the event there will be a post-ride community picnic. For more information or to register visit soldierride.org/babylon. 

Saturday, July 19

Roller Rebels Tryouts

On July 19, Skate Safe America at 182 Sweet Hollow Rd. in Bethpage will be holding open tryouts for the Long Island Roller Rebels roller derby team. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with tryouts starting at 10 a.m. Tryouts are open to all females, ages 18 or older, with the proper equipment.
