Program Changes At Senior Center: More! More! More!

In our never ending quest to make the Life Enrichment Center the best it can be, and to provide Nassau County with reassurance that the opinions of our members are considered, we conducted an all important survey in June. Results of this survey will be seen in the center’s summer calendar.

Ideas and comments from our members help us further one of our major goals for this year: more before and after lunch activities to our “day’s menu.” In addition to maintaining two afternoons a week of bingo, we are planning the following activities once a week:

• Music or entertainment

• Presentations or group discussions

• Board game competitions, crafts or a weekly movie

I’m happy to report that we’ve already scheduled a presentation by the Oyster Bay Historical Society about Oyster Bay’s involvement in the Civil War. Plans for inviting Raynham Hall to visit, as well as other local museums with virtual tour presentations, are underway.

Seniors can expect our trip calendar to grow as well. In addition to our regularly scheduled trips to Broadway and scheduled joint trips with the Bayville seniors and others, seniors can see more of Long Island with trips to local museums, college theater and music performances and visits to unknown treasures right here in our own backyard. For seniors who aren’t up for a trip … our staff is building relationships with local entertainers and venues who could visit with them right here at the center.

We were proud to learn that our overall goal to make our seniors feel welcome, comfortable and happy has been achieved! We thank our members for all their wonderful comments. Any senior wishing to visit the center will be greeted with open arms.

We are looking forward to sharing a summer full of new activities and fun with all seniors in Oyster Bay and the surrounding communities! Please come and join us!

Wish List

70” to 90” Big Screen Television

A donor can help turn our main hall into a movie theatre for our seniors. Seniors will help select the movie and we will fill the hall with smell of freshly popped corn and hot pretzels for a morning or afternoon mini-getaway.

Local Talent Needed

Visit the Center and share your talent with our seniors. Music, dancing and entertainment bring excitement and joy to our center.
