The Plainview library presents two showings, 3 and 7:30 p.m., of Last Vegas. Three sixty-something friends take a break from their day-to-day lives to throw a bachelor party in Las Vegas for their last remaining single pal. Starring Robert DeNiro, Michael Douglas and Morgan Freeman.

Sonny And Perley
The Plainview library welcomes the exciting duo of pianist Sonny Daye and singer Perley Rousseu, accompanied on bass, engagingly perform songs from Broadway musicals and Hollywood films from the 1950s and 1970s such as “Moon River,” “The Shadow of Your Smile,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Send in the Clowns.” This Great American Songbook event takes place at 8 p.m.

Ice Cream Sandwiches
This teen program, from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Plainview library welcomes tweens and teens entering grades five through 12. Attendees will enjoy homemade ice cream sandwiches using freshly made waffles. A demonstration on how to make ice cream will also take place. Event takes place in downstairs meeting room A.

Fun In The Sun
The Plainview library welcomes tweens and teens entering fifth through 12th grade to this program from 7 to 8 p.m. Attendees will use special paper, beads and black lights to discover how sunglasses and sunscreen protect against the sun’s harmful rays. Each participant will take home his or her own UV detection device. Event takes place in the downstairs meeting room A.

The Afterlife: A Scientist’s View
Dr. Piero Calvi-Parisetti, a medical doctor and afterlife researcher, presents an overview of the scientific evidence suggesting that we survive our physical deaths. Starring Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin and Peter Sarsgaard.

Women Artists You Should Know
This slide and lecture presentation takes place at the Plainview library at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. The event features Evelyn Silver presenting sculptures of 30 different women from 1060 A.D. to the modern age. Each of these artists, including Mary Cassat, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe and lesser know but equally wonderful artists, is represented in major museums internationally.
