Located on Second Street in Mineola, Biscuits and Barbecue opened in early 2012 and over the past two and a half years has been serving up fresh Louisiana and southern barbecue — including crawfish, chicken and waffles, fried green tomatoes, grits, hushpuppies, po’boys, ribs and jambalaya. The BYOB establishment also features daily lunch and dinner specials as well as more than a half dozen desserts. All meats and ribs are smoked in-house.

“We bring the taste of Louisiana to Long Island,” said owner Joan Gallo, adding that Biscuits and Barbecue prides itself on offering nothing but “fresh and authentic Louisiana and southern cooking.”

Cooking With Chef Ignacio will take place in the Westbury Memorial Public Library’s Meeting Room Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. The fee is $7 per person and registration is required with space limited to 25 patrons. For more information call the Westbury Library at 516-333-0176 or visit www.westburylibrary.org.
