Tuesday, Sept. 2

Board of Trustees Meeting

The next meeting of the Village of Farmingdale Board of Trustees will be held at 8 p.m., on Sept. 2, at Village Hall, 361 Main Street. A public work session will preceed the meeting at 7 p.m.

 

FBLI Meeting

The next meeting of the Farmingdale Baseball League Inc. will be held at 8 p.m. on Sept. 2, at the meeting house at Ellsworth W. Allen Park, 45 Motor Ave., Farmingdale. 

 

School Supply Drive

From Aug. 29 through Sept. 2, Adventureland and the Helping Hands Foundation are collecting pens, pencils, backpacks, rulers, crayons, notebooks, lunch boxes, folders, glue, markers and paper for children in the community who cannot afford school supplies. When you donate, you are entered to wina family four pack of passes to Adventureland amusement park.

Back To School

On Sept. 3, pack your bookbags and get your no. 2 pencils sharpened for the first day of school. 

Thursday, Sept. 4

Chamber of Commerce

On Sept. 4, join the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce at Village Kitchen, 282 Main St. in Farmingdale, for its monthly breakfast meeting, at 8 a.m., when everyone will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and their business. Cost is $23 for chamber members. Be sure to bring your business cards. 

Saturday, Sept. 6

Artisan Market

On Sept. 6, come to the village green along Main Street in Farmingdale from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for the village’s Artisan Market. 

Monday, Sept. 8

Animals Exhibit

Brooklyn sculptor Wendy Klemperer has large-scale permanent installations on display across the country, from Maine to California. This past spring, the Farmingdale State College graduating class of 2014 commissioned Klemperer to do a Ram sculpture, symbolizing the campus mascot. The work is expected to be completed and on display this fall. 

 

On Sept. 8, Klemperer will exhibit her work at Farmingdale State College’s Memorial Gallery in Hale Hall. The exhibit is free and open to the public, weekdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 

Tuesday, Sept. 9

Business Resource Roundtable 

On Sept. 9, come to the Courtyard by Marriott, 2 Marriott Plaza in Farmingdale, from 8:30-10 a.m., for this open forum on specific business questions, issues or problems. Costs $30 to attend. Contact kevin@pls-ny.com or visit melvillechamber.org for more details. 

 

Island Gardens Co-Op

The Island Gardens Co-Op Community Board will hold its annual meeting from 7-10 p.m., on Sept. 9, at Farmingdale Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale. 

 

South Farmingdale Fire Board of Commissioners 

The next meeting of the South Farmingdale Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners will be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 9, at the South Farmingdale Firehouse, 819 Main St. in Farmingdale. 

Wednesday, Sept. 10

Joint Networking Event

Share your ideas, promote your business and expand your network. On Sept. 10, mix and mingle with business professionals from the Farmingdale, Levittown, and Massapequa Chamber of Commerce, from 6-9 p.m. at Palmer’s American Grille, 123 Fulton St. in Farmingdale. The event is limited to Chamber of Commerce members only. Cost is $20 per person to attend, and includes buffet dining and a free raffle ticket.  

Thursday, Sept. 11

September 11th Anniversary 

On Sept. 11, the Farmingdale United Methodist Church, 407 Main St. in Farmingdale, will be open to the community, from 3-7 p.m. for quiet reflection and prayer to mark the thirteenth anniversary of the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. Everyone is welcome.

The next meeting of the Farmingdale Zoning Board will be held at 8 p.m., on Sept. 11, at Village Hall, 361 Main St. in Farmingdale.
