Summer blooms give way to the palette of autumn’s ripened colors, keeping the homescape pretty even as gardeners start to tuck up the yard for winter. Fall seminars and demonstrations at Hicks Nurseries showcase varied options for plantings and decor.
Beginning on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 11-11:30 a.m. and again from 3-3:30 p.m., the creative production department at Hicks will present demonstrations on how to create the perfect fall planter. Their goal is to show customers how to easily change summer planters into stunning autumn displays with chrysanthemums, ornamental grasses and fall vegetables. While enjoying the demonstrations a free glass of apple cider will be provided.
On Saturday, learn how to bring your lawn back to its pre-summer beauty with lawn care expert Felix Cutrone. Cutrone will provide an informative seminar about fall lawn care and help homeowners get a head start for next spring. Sept. 13, 9-10 a.m.
From 11 a.m. to noon, attend a seminar about planting for privacy with Hicks landscape designer Rich Abate. Abate will discuss which trees and shrubs will grow tall and full to help create a private oasis.
