Marguerite S. “Peggy” Walsh died on Sept. 18, 2014, age 84, long-time resident of Oyster Bay. Peggy was born Nov. 2, 1929 in New York City and moved to Oyster Bay as a child. She graduated from Oyster Bay High School in 1947 and then attended Mary Washington College. Peggy earned her master’s degree in French Literature from Columbia University. Peggy was a dedicated French teacher for 30 years at MacArthur High School in the Levittown School District, where she also supervised a number of school clubs. Fluent in the French language, Peggy had a fond appreciation for France, where she still has a number of cousins. She also had a great love for the arts, fashion, reading, history and classical music.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Eva Walsh, and her in sister-in-law Margaret Walsh. Peggy is survived by her brother Richard Castle-Walsh (Babetta), nephew Bill Walsh and nieces Meg Heller (John), Janet Walsh (Carla), Anne Walsh, Katie Schlicht (Bill) and her seven great-nieces and nephews: Sarah Stamp (Adam), Catherine Heller, Colton, Brody, and Shayna Walsh, Emily and Maggie Schlicht.
