The League of Women Voters of Port Washington-Manhasset will co-sponsor a Candidates Forum with the Shelter Rock Forum of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 48 Shelter Rock Rd., Manhasset on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 6:30 p.m. Candidates will discuss their qualifications for the US Congressional District 3, New York State Senate District 7, New York State Assembly Districts 13 and 16, and Town of North Hempstead Council District 2.
The League will then sponsor a program about recent attempts to limit voter rights, titled “You Have the Right to Vote, Don’t You? The State of Voting Rights 2014,” on Monday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Manhasset Library at 30 Onderdonk Ave. The featured speaker will be Vishal Agraharkar, Counsel for the Brennan Center’s Democracy Program at the NYU Law School.
