Social and Ballroom Dancing
The Society Tempo Ballroom Club holds dances every Friday afternoon at Kismet Shriners, 18 W. Nicholai St in Hicksville. Enjoy a group lesson, followed by social dance time. The Town of Hempstead brings free arts and crafts sessions for children ages five to 12 to Levittown Hall every Saturday. Specially trained recreation instructors will guide youngsters in an exciting and creative process. Parents may only enroll their own children. Proof of age is required. Meet and Greet Elsa

Anger Management Course
Family & Children’s Association (FCA) is offering a one-day intensive program for anyone who wishes to understand their anger and learn new ways of coping with it. The cost of the Intensive Anger Management course is $140 plus a $40 workbook fee. The class will be held at 180 Broadway, 2nd floor, Hicksville from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participation is subject to a brief assessment which must be completed one week prior to the event. Military Timeline Weekend
Experience military history throughout one afternoon at the Old Bethpage Restoration during Military Timeline Weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During the Military Timeline event, visitors will get an up-close and personal look — through interactive displays, rumbling tanks and knowledgeable historians — at some of the violent forces that have shaped our world. Living historians will present uniforms, weapons and tactics from Roman gladiators through Revolutionary War Minutemen and WWI Doughboys to Vietnam-era GI’s. A world-class collection of WWII armor will be on display.

American Girl Fashion Show
Our Lady of Mercy invites girls and their friends and families to experience the American Girl Fashion Show on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy School, 520 S. Oyster Bay Road, Hicksville. This fun, engaging program showcases historical and contemporary fashions for girls and their dolls. Proceeds from the event will benefit Our Lady of Mercy School.
Over 100 local models will present the fashions, while lively commentary, music, and decorations help create a memorable experience for girls and their families. Audiences will delight in historical clothing, from daywear to sleepwear to special occasion clothing, that resembles what the popular American Girl characters might have worn.
The event also includes elegant refreshments, party favors, raffles, and door prizes. Reservations are $35 and can be made online at www.americangirlfashionshows.com.
