“No matter how hard we try to avoid it, every person has to address the issue of independent living as they undergo the aging process,” said Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau). “The growing awareness of the benefits of staying in your home as long as possible are widely recognized.”
Senator Hannon is inviting all Sixth Senatorial District residents to attend his “Aging In Place” seminar at the Plainedge Public Library (1060 Hicksville Road, Massapequa) on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 6:45-8:45 pm.
“Here in New York, the population aged 65 and over is projected to be almost 3 million, according to the US Department of Health and Human Services,” said Hannon. “That is a steady increase, expected to continue, and we are working very hard to offer support services and information to help you stay in your home as long as possible.”
Speakers will answer the question, “How can I afford to stay in my home as I get older,” and will cover topics such as Medicaid Planning, Veterans Benefits, Health Care Reimbursement and Recovery, Senior Housing, Managed Long Term Home Health Care Programs, and more. You will learn how to achieve safe and functional mobility, maintain and enhance your dwelling to reduce the risk of falls, increase maneuverability, and how to plan financially so you can remain in your home as long as possible.
“Deciding to age in place can enhance your home and quality of life, and provide comfort and security,” said Hannon.
