5/21/21 – 10/23/14 – beloved son of the late Catherine and William McHale, loving husband of the late Virginia (nee Conley), brother to the late William, Catherine Caden, Thomas and Gerard. Father of the late John (Janet), Kevin (June), Robert (Peggy), Brian McHale, Jane Cotter (Jerry) and Mary Ellen Gotimer (Michael). Loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren – Meghan (Michael) Canty, John III, Meredith, Kevin, Kelly, Robert and Emily McHale, Daniel (Stephanie), Michael, Kathleen and Patrick Cotter, Elizabeth, Michael and Christine Gotimer and great grandfather of three.
John graduated from Jamaica High School and Brooklyn Polytechnical Institute with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was employed by Exxon Mobil Corp. for 40 years. He was also an Associate Professor at the State University at Farmingdale.
During World War II, Lieutenant John McHale was stationed in Lavenham, England where he served as a lead navigator with the 8th Air Force, 487th Bomb group, 838th Squadron.
He was a resident of Port Washington, N.Y. and an active member of St. Peter’s Church for 62 years.
