Peter Zuckerman is running as the Democratic Party’s incumbent candidate for 2nd District on the Town of North Hempstead Council.
“Nine months ago, I was recommended by Supervisor Judi Bosworth and approved with bipartisan support of the Town Board. This has been a dream job for me,” Zuckerman told the Mineola American, on explaining why he is running for office. “I had the pleasure of serving the residents of the incorporated Village of East Hills for 11 great years, but this job has given me the opportunity to expand the area I represent and, thus, the opportunity to be of service to a greater number of people.”
Zuckerman is an attorney, practicing in the fields of real estate and litigation. Since 2004, he has been a partner in the Uniondale-based firm of Peter Zuckerman, Attorney, P.C.
“I am running so that I can continue to serve the people of the district,” he said. “I believe they deserve someone with experience and know-how. I have also started several important projects during my nine months in office, and I plan on completing those and visioning many others for the future.”
He is licensed to practice law in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and the District of Columbia. Zuckerman formerly served as General Counsel to Century 21 Laffey Associates in Greenvale and currently provides legal services to the Professional Standards Committee of the Long Island Board of Realtors when requested. He also clerked for State Supreme Court Judge Patricia Collins after college.
“I am proud that I have been able to make so much progress with numerous projects in the district, including the Roslyn Country Club,” Zuckerman said. “From day one, Supervisor Bosworth and I have been committed to the Roslyn Country Club project and have made it a top priority. While there is still pending litigation, we have continued to move forward with other aspects of this project, so that we can ensure that the goal of the community — to build a pool and tennis facility that residents will use and be proud of — becomes a reality as soon as possible.”
Zuckerman grew up in East Hills and attended Roslyn schools, playing soccer and baseball for Roslyn High School. He sits on the Board of Directors for the Roslyn Little League and Roslyn Booster Basketball.
Zuckerman graduated from Emory University in Atlanta with a B.A. in Political Science and holds a J.D. from New York Law School. He resides in East Hills with his wife, Brenda and three children, Benjamin, Matthew, and Emily. His parents also still live in East Hills.
“I would say public safety and quality-of-life issues are very important to residents of the Second District,” Zuckerman said. “Along with Supervisor Judi Bosworth, I will continue to work with Nassau County to improve safety on Roslyn Road. The Roslyn train station’s parking lot will receive a makeover this coming year, with resurfacing and restriping of the asphalt parking lot, replacement of the parking lot lighting, and curb and sidewalk work. The town will also be repaving several areas in the 2nd District area this coming year.”
