Massapequa native and Plainedge graduate Stephanie Maybie is in the spotlight once again.

The senior soccer player recently set Old Westbury’s all-time record for goals (70), points (158), game-winning goals (21) and shots (390). She also set the school’s single-season record for goals (26), points (58) and shots (152), while tying her own record with six game-winners for the season.

“I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am with all my accomplishments this year,” said Maybie. “Before the season started I set goals for myself and I wasn’t going to stop until I reached them.”

Maybie also leads the Skyline Conference in points, goals, shots and game-winners while ranking among the NCAA leaders in points (6th), goals (5th) and game-winners (19th). She led Old Westbury to its fifth straight appearance in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament in 2014.

“I was confident that I would score my 50th career goal and break most of the school records, but I couldn’t have done it without my teammates by my side,” she said of her fellow soccer pals. “My team means everything to me and without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. ng me going no matter what.”

The soccer star was also recently named Skyline Conference Player of the Year and first-team all-conference, to add to her many accomplishments.

Maybie’s head coach Craig Newman, admitted that he has not been surprised by his player’s season thus far.

“Stephanie is a dynamic student-athlete and I am very proud of the records she has achieved,” he said. “It is scary to think of what she could have amounted, with her sacrificing last season to play defense for the team, instead of her natural striker role. Stephanie is a true team player in my eyes.”
Congratulations and continued good luck to this local star athlete.
