SAT Course At Garden City High School Starts Soon

For the fourth year in a row, PowerPrep is offering its comprehensive SAT course at Garden City High School twice in 2015. The first course, which starts in early January, is for students who are planning to take the SAT in March. The second course, which starts in early March, is for students who plan to wait until May to take the SAT for the first time. Both courses are open to all high school students who are residents of the Garden City School District, whether or not they attend Garden City High School.

PowerPrep is offering this course at a savings of $650 off its regular tuition. It is important to note that this is not a course specially developed or administered by the district. Rather it is PowerPrep’s regular course that, despite the greatly reduced tuition, has not been abbreviated or watered-down in any way. Except for the location of the classes, this course is identical to the Comprehensive SAT Course that PowerPrep has offered for the past 15 years. The course that has helped thousands of students raise their scores by an average of more than 200 points. In fact, of the students who took this course at Garden City High School last year, more than 25 percent went up over 250 points and 10 percent went up over 300 points.

The agreement between PowerPrep and the district strictly limits the number of students who will be able to take these SAT courses. Since the courses are open to all residents of the Garden City School District—whether they attend Garden City High School, go to a private school, or are home-schooled—and since the course is being offered at such a steep discount, it is possible that some sections of the course will fill up. PowerPrep will try to accommodate all Garden City students, but only those who register by Dec. 31 are guaranteed admission to the course that starts in January. It is usually not possible to open another section at the last minute.

The entire PowerPrep program in Garden City will be under the personal supervision of Dr. Ira Wolf, the founder of PowerPrep and the author of several books, including the best selling test prep book of all time: Barron’s How to Prepare for the SAT. His SAT book is the official text in SAT prep courses around the country and is used each year by hundreds of thousands of students. Dr. Wolf is an expert in test preparation who lectures extensively about the SAT and other college entrance exams and has helped students reach their maximum SAT potential for over 35 years. The PowerPrep instructors who will teach the course in Garden City have, on average, more than 20 years of experience in SAT preparation and have all been personally trained by Dr. Wolf.

Please note that since the PowerPrep program is not run by Garden City Public Schools, parents who have questions about the course should not call the high school; rather they should call PowerPrep directly at 516-484-4468.
