The Mineola School District and Superintendent Michael Nagler were part of the first-ever National Connected Superintendents Summit hosted by the U.S. Department of Education and the White House in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 19. Nagler was chosen to participate in this prestigious summit based on his role in helping Mineola transition into the world of digital learning.
He joined other exemplary superintendents who are using technology to create personalized learning environments for their students. During Nagler’s tenure as superintendent, Mineola fully integrated iPads in grades 3 to 9.
He made it a priority to transform the classroom into a virtual world of differentiated learning that extends beyond the four walls of the school. Nagler is passionate about technology and the opportunities it affords all students. Technology has been instrumental in the district’s rollout of its STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) initiative, as well as its development of college- and career-ready individuals.
The summit let leaders share plans of action with each other and with the Department of Education in order to help disseminate proven approaches across the nation.
In addition to the White House Summit, Nagler participated in a series of 12-15 regional summits that focused on the digital progress both made and possible by local school districts.
