A Christmas Carol

Greg Oliver Bodine again performs in a solo performance of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens at the Matinecock Lodge on Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. Seating is limited for this one night performance. Visit www.nstg.org for information. Tickets are $15 and $10 for seniors and students, at 7 p.m.

Movie: Mr. Pip

As a war rages on in the province of Bougainville in Papua New Guinea, a young girl becomes transfixed by the Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations, which is being read at school by the only white man in the village. Starring: Hugh Laurie, Kerry Fox, Eka Darville, (Rated PG-13 for disturbing situations involving violence and threat, and for some mature thematic material and brief language, 115 min.) Winter Dance Concert

The LIU Post Winter Dance Concert features guest and student choreography from Dec. 5 to Dec. 7 in the Little Theatre Mainstage at 8 p.m. [matinees on Dec. 6 and 7 at 2 p.m.] Call the box office at 516-299-2356 for tickets. General admission is $10; students and seniors are $5.

Christmas With The Roosevelts

Sagamore Hill National Historic Site hosts Christmas with the Roosevelts at Sagamore Hill, on Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include holiday music and an appearance by “Theodore Roosevelt,” as portrayed by James Foote. “TR” will talk on how the Roosevelts celebrated Christmas at Sagamore Hill and in the White House. In addition: holiday arts and crafts activities for children of all ages. Complimentary hot cocoa and cider will be provided by the Friends of Sagamore Hill. All items in the Visitor Center bookstore will be 15 percent off on Saturday and Sunday. For information call 516-922-4788.

Yuletide Church Walk And Gospel Concert

The Oyster Bay Main Street Association’s Yuletide Church Walk begins  at 2 p.m. on Dec. 6 at St. Dominic’s 1897 Chapel for a talk on its history. At 2:30 p.m. the walk goes to Christ Church on East Main Street, founded in 1705. A film on its history, and a Q&A, ends in time to cross East Main Street to the 1873 First Presbyterian Church (listed on the National Registry of Historic Places) for a concert by the Mount Olive Church Mass Choir. Raynham Hall Event

Raynham Hall Museum presents a Children’s Victorian Holiday Party on Dec. 6. Please call 516-922-6808 for information on the time and the fee.

Annual Tree Lighting

Arrive at the Derby-Hall Bandstand on Audrey Avenue on Dec. 6, for the annual Historic Oyster Bay-East Norwich Chamber of Commerce’s tree lighting festivities starting at 4:45 p.m. and the actual tree lighting will occur around 5:45 p.m. Enjoy the merry outdoor pop-up Christmas Market, open until 6:30 p.m. Santa Claus will appear and there are free refreshments provided by the Oyster Bay Civic Association. The celebration includes horse drawn carriage rides, caroling, hot beverages and a special appearance by the only remaining cast member of It’s A Wonderful Life. For information call 516-922-6464.

Deck The Halls

Locust Valley Library presents pianist Stan Wiest from 2 to 4 p.m. to lead the annual holiday music sing-a-long. Free admission; free refreshments; children welcome. Free sing along books given out. British songwriter Gretta is adrift in Manhattan after getting dumped by her philandering rock star boyfriend. While playing at an open mic night at a local bar, she is discovered by struggling music producer Dan. Tree Lighting

Planting Fields invites you to its 10th annual tree lighting and visit from Santa on Dec. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Free admission, activities and parking. The tree will be lit at 6 p.m. sharp. Enjoy caroling by the Barber Shop Quartet, Hot Cocoa and refreshments at the Hay Barn/Visitor Center, Coe Hall decorated for the season will be open for self-guided visits.  Visit with Santa until 7:30 p.m. in the Hay Barn.

Movie Night

St. Dominic High School’s National Honor Society hosts a Christmas movie night featuring Elf, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Cost is $12 for the first child, $10 for each additional child; snacks and drinks included.

OBHS Holiday Open House

The Oyster Bay Historical Society, 20 Summit St., hosts its annual holiday event starting with a Holiday Concert at 4 p.m. at the Hood A.M.E. Zion Church at 137 South St. in Oyster Bay. Plein Art Exhibit

The Teaching Studios of Art of Oyster Bay’s Plein Air Competition of paintings created at Sagamore Hill are on view currently and for sale at the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s Koenig Center. For more information and hours call 516-922-5032.

Food Pantry

The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. If you are in need of their service, please call Pastor Diane at 516-922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.
