TOB Ice Skating Center Welcomes New Team

The Town of Oyster Bay’s state of the art ice skating center in Bethpage recently welcomed its newest team; the Plainedge Red Devils.

After a long hiatus, organized hockey is returning to the Plainedge community with this year’s launch of a middle school and high school team. The Plainedge district takes in areas including Bethpage, Farmingdale, North Massapequa, Massapequa and Seaford.

New York Islanders Hockey Legend Bobby Nystrom was on hand for a special ceremony unveiling a Plainedge banner which will hang from the rafters of the rink signifying the community’s triumphant return to the sport of hockey. Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto, a resident of North Massapequa, said he was excited to see Plainedge representing his hometown community.

“The Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center was designed to connect with the community and welcome new teams and participants,” said Venditto. “The re-emergence of Plainedge Hockey is a perfect example of an organization availing itself of a welcoming and supportive environment. I wish them all the best for years to come.”
