Three professional comedians promise a fun Saturday evening with “a gazillion laughs.”
It’s all for Roslyn area residents on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. as Temple Beth Sholom will host its fifth annual Comedy Night. This year, organizers claim they have arrayed the strongest lineup of comedians to ever grace the Rubenstein Auditorium stage.
After his much talked about appearance at Budd Friedman’s American Comedy Convention at The Riviera in Las Vegas, comedian Dan Wilson has been in many television shows, including “Star Search,” A&E’s “Evening at the Improv,” MTV’s “Half Hour Comedy Hour,” and has also appeared on ESPN, Lifetime and Comedy Central.
Wilson’s rubbery face and keen ear for voices earned him status as a recurring sketch performer on HBO’s “Hardcore T.V.” Dan has opened for Dana Carvey, Richard Lewis and Richard Belzer, appearing at showrooms in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Reno.
He continues to headline Comedy Clubs nationwide, as well as entertaining aboard Royal Caribbean Cruises. His quirky style mixes keen observations with outrageous physical humor, all delivered in a genial “I’m-only-trying-to-fix-the-world-before-it’s-too-late” deadpan.
Comedienne Robin Fox spent 17 years as a New Jersey stay-at-home mom before moving her act to the comedy stage. Fox was the 2010 Grand Prize winner of the 11th Annual Gilda’s Club Laugh-Off, host of the 2011 Lucie Awards at Lincoln Center, and was a finalist in The Bud Light “Ladies of Laughter.”
Fox is a regular at the Gotham Comedy Club and Broadway Comedy Club. She can be heard on Sirius XM Satellite Radio and has been a guest numerous times on WOR’s “Joey Reynolds Show.” Fox has also appeared on “NickMom Night Out!” and was a “Hot Topic” of conversation on ABC’s “The View.”
Comedian Dave Konig is a three-time Emmy Award winning host of NY Metro TV’s reality/comedy series “Subway Q&A” and has hosted HBO’s late-night comedy series “Hardcore TV” and USA Network’s cult hit talk show parody, “The Dave Konig Show.”
Konig has also appeared on NBC’s “Law and Order: Criminal Intent,” HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” and is a regularly featured comic on NBC’s “All Night with Joey Reynolds.”
With his strong energy and classic delivery, he’s been called “a throwback to Milton Berle” (NJ Newsroom) and “laugh out loud funny and lightning fast” (New York Times). Konig has also starred in his own hit Off-Broadway solo shows, Addicted to Show Business and Hebrew School Dropout. He has also starred on Broadway as D.J. Vince Fontaine in the Tommy Tune revival of Grease.
Seating is limited for the big show. Doors open at 7 p.m. with show starting promptly at 8 p.m. (Late-comers may be forced to sit upfront and be skewered mercilessly by these top comedians.)
Attendees are permitted to BYOKB (Bring Your Own Kosher Bottle); complimentary light snacks will be served.
Cost is $25/person in advance, $30/person on the day of the show.
