Former Roslyn High School basketball coach Joe Lettera is being honored at the Roslyn Board of Education meeting on Thursday, Dec. 18 at Roslyn High School.
Lettera touched the lives of many people including students, parents, co-workers and community members. If you are one of these people, you are encouraged to attend the meeting and show your support as he receives this accolade.
Joe Lettera was inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame on March 16 of this year. His coaching career at Roslyn spanned from 1958 to 1989 where he had 28 winning seasons, including seven division titles. His Bulldogs made it to the Nassau County finals twice in their division.
Lettera won 405 games during his tenure. He was named 1973 Nassau County Coach of the Year and won the Sportsmanship Award from the Long Island Basketball Officials twice. Were you coached by Joe Lettera? Come to the board meeting at Roslyn High School on Dec. 18 and share some high school memories.
