Two NYPD officers were killed Saturday afternoon when a gunman reportedly fired from close range into their patrol car in Brooklyn, according to multiple reports.
The gunman fled to a nearby subway station where he reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police recovered a gun from the scene, according to The New York Times.
The tragic shooting occurred in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
“The perp came out of the [Tompkins] houses, walked up behind the car and lit them up,” an anonymous police official told the New York Daily News.
A witness told the News that the suspect was being pursued by cops when he ran toward the subway station.
The New York Post reported that the officers were working overtime when they were fatally shot.
Multiple reports stated that at least one officer was shot in the head.
