Christmas Eve Nativity Pageant

Christ Church Oyster Bay holds a nativity pageant with the children of Church School, and parishioners’ families, with live animals. The story of the birth of Jesus is sung and acted out. Immediately following is the Family Eucharist with older Church School children telling the story of Jesus birth. From 4 to 5 p.m., 61 East Main St., Oyster Bay. Movie at the Library

Children’s movie: How to Train Your Dragon 2 (PG, 102 min.) When Hiccup and Toothless discover an ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. No registration required. Children under 9 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library, 2 p.m.

Winter Day Program

The program begins at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Boys & Girls Club for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade. The program will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 26, Dec. 29, Dec. 30, Dec. 31 and Jan. 2, 2015. Cost is $55 or $60 per day with lunch included. Blood Drive

Give the gift of life for the holidays. New York Blood Center will be at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This blood drive is presented by Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library in cooperation with Youth & Family Counseling Agency of Oyster Bay and East Norwich. Last donor will be taken at 3:45 p.m. Two free Mets tickets for the 2015 season will be mailed to each donor.

Potters Wheel Mini Camp

For ages 7 and up at The Madd Potter, 17 Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay. $60 cash per person, includes snacks, pizza and drinks. Call 516-922-3223 to reserve a spot. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Open Game Time

The MNA Community Room at the Locust Valley Library will be open Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m. for people to meet and play a game of their choice. Tables and chairs will be provided, as well as a variety of games, or bring your own. Bring your friend(s). All welcome.


Tuesday, Dec. 30

Balloon Workshop

For grades kindergarten and up, 11 a.m. to noon, at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library. Learn how to master a few easy twists to make a dog and other simple balloon animals and hats. Then create your own designs. Registration began on Dec. 9 for OB-EN residents and begins on Dec. 29 for nonresidents, space permitting. Stop by the children’s room or call the library at 516-922-1212 to register.

Kids Movie at the Library

Go to the Bayville Free Library to watch Dolphin Tale 2, 2 to 4 p.m. in the library’s meeting room. Snacks will be served.

Just Be…Yoga

At the Bayville Free Library. Session 1, in the meeting room. Bring a mat or towel and yoga blocks or straps if you have them. Beginners welcome. Hooks & Needles

At the Bayville Free Library, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sit and knit awhile. Work on your own projects, or a project for charity. If you are unable to join in, please drop off your handmade hats, scarves, sweaters, or blankets anytime during library business hours. They are always looking for new members and donations of yarn.

Pottery Mini Camp

OBHS Quilt Exhibit

The Oyster Bay Historical Society’s holiday exhibition features both traditional and art quilts from their collections now through Dec. 31. The exhibit includes work from local quilters Pat Aitken, Dagmar Karppi, and Jacque Blocklyn. Photos at the Locust Valley Library

For the entire month of December, you can visit the MNA Community Room to see the photographs of Lisle Brathwaite at the Locust Valley Library. Brathwaite was born in Antigua and is an engineer living in New York. His gorgeous photographs are of nature and wildlife.   

Plein Art Exhibit

The Teaching Studios of Art of Oyster Bay’s Plein Air Competition of paintings created at Sagamore Hill are on view currently and for sale at the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s Koenig Center. For more information and hours call 516-922-5032.

Food Pantry

The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. If you are in need of their service, please call Pastor Diane at 516-922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.
