The Indians are looking forward to a great season in boys basketball. With four returning starters the team is experienced while still having young talent throughout the program. The team has a unique makeup of size and strength with a lot of athleticism across the board. The Indians will play a strong defensive game with a fast paced offense. The offense will have many different weapons throughout a variety of scoring and the defense contains many defensive stoppers and one big man protecting the paint. A surplus of strong, experienced seniors will lead the team throughout the season.
Many different will contribute to Manhasset’s success on both the offensive side and defensive side. Offensively the team will be lead by a sharpshooter John Sanseverino who could make jump shots at will and potentially lead the team in scoring. One of four captains, Keyshawn Johnson is a prominent force on both ends of the court. Improving his offensive game tremendously utilizes his size effectively. Defensively, he protects the rim for the Indians.
The other three captains each bring something different to the table that help provide diversity to the team. Chris DeMatteis is the team’s best defensive player and is extremely quick. He can lock up all types of guards and will force them to struggle. Michael Bellucci is an all-around player that does many different things well. Bellucci can shoot the ball very well and take it to the hoop strong. On the defensive side, he can guard several different types of players and do it well.
The last Captain, Joe Enea, is a strong rebounder and who does a collection of things well. Enea has an improved jump shot while also getting offensive rebounds. Defensively, he can also protect the paint and provide help defense. Tramont Smith will surely be an important piece to the Indians success. Smith takes the ball to rim relentlessly and is steadily improving his jump shot. His athleticism is very unique and is a fantastic scorer. Jack Keogh is the point guard for the team and will start everything offensively for the Indians. He is a young sophomore and turning into a great player. Yianni Karayiannis will be a big powerful body coming off the bench for the Indians, being a very physical player. Danny Hedberg and Najon Dorsainvil are two guards that will provide a spark off the bench. Will Theodoropoulos is a young big man that is still improving and also will give some minutes off the bench for Manhasset.
The Indians have a large amount of sophomores that are still developing to become future players. Coach Bruns and Coach Goldman both do a great job getting the team prepared and ready to go each and everyday. The Indians open up with Glen Cove on Friday, December 12th  at home.
