West End Civic Association meeting has been canceled on Feb. 5 due to a scheduling conflict. The association’s next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 8 p.m. at the Atlantic Avenue Firehouse, on the second floor. New members are welcome.
Floral Park Chamber of Commerce will meet at Swing The Teapot on Verbena on Feb. 5 at 8 a.m. The installation of new chamber officers will also be held. Cost is $18 per person, new members welcome.
The Queens Village Republican Club, Inc. will meet on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus-St. Anne’s Council, 263-15 Union Tpke. in Glen Oaks. The panel discussion will be “The Plight of Our Specialized High Schools” with experts, students and alumni of New York City’s specialized high schools presenting on the topic of preserving the traditions. Valentine’s Day
The Floral Park Women’s Club will hold their annual Valentine Victorian Tea on Saturday, Feb. 14 at St. Elisabeth’s Church on Harvard St. in Floral Park. Three seatings: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Enjoy an assortment of tea sandwiches, breads and dessert. Donation is $20 per person. Our Times Coffeehouse, at 38 Old Country Rd. in Garden City presents Gathering Time’s WinterFolk, a program of special songs for the snow season on Friday, Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. The group will perform both original and traditional songs, as well as seldom-covered songs by Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Fairport Convention and others. The meeting of the Floral Park League of Mercy Hospital will take place on Monday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. at the Floral Park Recreation Center. The guest speaker will be David Slomenhast, L.C.S.W., PHD., director of behavioral studies at Mercy Medical Center who will speak on stress management, a subject beneficial to all ages. Sewanhaka School District Adult Education has returned. Register on Tuesday, Feb. 24, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Floral Park Memorial High School for the spring programs of: recreational basketball, Zumba, yoga, pickle ball and conversational English. Register on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 7 to 10 p.m. at New Hyde Park Memorial High School for the spring programs of: volleyball, Bollywood dancing, Zumba, ballroom dancing, community band and retirement planning (one night only). American Legion Post 334 of Floral Park meets on the first and third Fridays (except July and Aug.) at 8:30 p.m. at 15 Elizabeth St. New members welcome, honorable discharge from wartime military service is required.

At the Bellerose Jewish Center, located at 254-04 Union Tpke., in Floral Park: free Jewish education for kindergarten and Sunday School children. A thorough religious curriculum with experienced teachers for third grade to their bar/bat mitzvah is also provided.
