Levittown’s Saajid Chowdhury, an eighth-grade student at Salk Middle School, placed in the top five percent of the nation as a participant in the prestigious American Mathematics Competition hosted by the Mathematical Association of America.
Chowdhury’s final score was 19 out of 25, qualifying him as a school winner and a first-place winner in his section.
The AMC recognizes and rewards excellence in mathematics through a series of national contests. This is the first time a Salk Middle School student has participated in the competition.
Chowdhury currently attends the Institute of Creative Problem Solving, where he is learning advanced mathematical concepts.
He is the previous high scorer in the school’s Math Olympiad Club. As a sixth-grader, he won a bronze medal in the Science Olympiad regional competition in the Solar System event.
Congratulations, Saajid!
