Party At Collector Car Showcase

Crochet Connection

Beginners or experienced crocheters are welcome to learn the basic foundation stitches such as slip knot, chain, single and double crochet, for ages 6 and up. From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library. Participants should be taking away a completed project at the end of the five weeks. Registration began on Feb. 4 for OB-EN residents and began on Feb. 24 for nonresidents, space permitting. Stop by the children’s room or call 516-922-1212 to register.

Movie At The Library

Winter Blues Party

The Boys and Girls Club of Oyster Bay-East Norwich is hosting a Winter Blues and Inflatables party at the club, 1 Pine Hollow Rd., Oyster Bay, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person. Jump around in the bounce house, zoom down the 17-foot bouncy slide, enjoy cotton candy, participate in Bean Bag and Ring Toss games and get a tattoo at the Temporary Tattoo Station. Metamorphoses

LIU Post’s theatre company presents Metamorphoses by Mary Zimmerman. A modern translation of the classic Ovid poem. The play will be performed on Feb. 27 and 28 and March 5 to 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Little Theatre Mainstage (A matinee will be offered on March 6 at 2 p.m. and March 8 at 3 p.m.). Church Fundraiser

The Hood Zion AME Church is holding a fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 28 from noon to 5 p.m. Choice of barbecue chicken, ribs or fried fish served with two sides. Cost is $12. Delicious desserts are $2. You can eat your meal at the church or order your food and take it home to enjoy.The church is at 11 Summit St., Oyster Bay, on the corner of South and Summit streets.

Birdwatching Trip

Take an all day birdwatching trip to Montauk Point and with the Huntington-Oyster Bay Audubon Society and observe lingering winter waterfowl including scoters, eiders, loons, gannets, and numerous pond ducks. Soon the waterfowl will be heading to their breeding grounds, so this could be the last chance to enjoy them. Group meets at 9 a.m. Take the LIE to exit 70, Manorville. Go south on Route 111 to Route 27. Take Route 27 east all the way to Montauk Point Lighthouse. Meet by the restaurant opposite the parking lot. To register call 516-433-5590.

Movie At The Library

See St. Vincent at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library, 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Maggie, a single mother, moves into a new home in Brooklyn with her 12-year-old son, Oliver. Forced to work long hours, she has no choice but to leave Oliver in the care of their new neighbor, Vincent, a retired curmudgeon with a desire for alcohol and gambling. Art Show and Champagne Brunch

The third annual spring art show will take place at Oakcliff Sailing Center, 2 South Exhibit Space, Oyster Bay, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year’s theme is the seashore: the artists and chef have been challenged to depict their vision of that special area where the sea meets the shore. They will explore different perspectives: a family enjoying a picnic on Fire Island, a sea creature crawling onto the sands, a bird cruising toward the sea or a sailor returning from that sea. Photography Exhibit

The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community.
