Audrey Dolores Hunter

Audrey Dolores (Devine) Hunter, 86, passed away on February 23, 2015 at Sunrise of Glen Cove. Born in Brooklyn, she grew up in West Hempstead. She earned her RN at St Vincent’s Hospital in 1949 and graduated from St. Johns University with a BS in Nursing in 1960. She worked as an RN for the Health Department until moving to Manhasset in1969. She continued as a registered nurse in her husband’s family medical practice on Plandome Road for many years. She was active in the Plandome Heights Women’s Club, Manhasset Bay Yacht Club, St. Mary’s Church and served on the Boards of Manhasset Visiting Nurse Service, Meals on Wheels and the Visiting Nurse Association of Long Island.
She is survived by her brother, Thomas (Kathy) Devine of North Bellmore, NY, their three children and grandchildren, and her stepchildren Nancy Hunter Kemper of Londonderry, VT and John (Patty) Hunter of Buffalo, NY, their children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, John D. Hunter MD of Manhasset, sister Rosemary (Charles) Daly of West Hempstead, stepdaughter Susan Hunter McCarthy of Brisbane Australia and step granddaughter Jennifer Kemper of Moultonboro, NH. Her ashes will be placed with her Mother at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
