The Mineola High School Drama Club and Thespian Troupe No. 276 will present the Tony Award-winning musical, Annie Get Your Gun on Friday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 28 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. in the Theater at Mineola High School at 10 Armstrong Rd. in Garden City Park. Long considered Irving Berlin’s greatest theatrical achievement, Annie Get Your Gun is sure to score a bulls-eye with audiences.
The show tells the fictionalized love story of Annie Oakley and Frank Butler. A spunky backwoods gal, Annie’s astonishing shooting skills earn her a spot in Buffalo Bill’s traveling show, and spark a competition with the show’s handsome hotshot, Butler.
The two soon fall for each other, but when Annie’s act outshines her beau’s, she discovers that what’s good for business can be bad for romance. Packed with sure-fire Irving Berlin hits such as “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “Doin’ What Comes Natur’ly,” “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better” and “You Can’t Get a Man with a Gun,” Annie Get Your Gun is a testament to female ingenuity and plain, old-fashioned fun.
Seniors Missy Dunlop as Annie Oakley and CJ Asam as Frank Butler lead a cast of 35 in this foot-stomping, feel-good musical perfect for the entire family.
