Anthony (Tony) Iovino Jr.

Devoted husband of Barbara Joan (nee Albert) for 56 years; dear father of Lisa Ellen Iovino (John Schalda), Anthony III (Cara) and Leslie Anne Banks (Dale); dear grandfather of Monica, Michael and Emily Howald and Anthony IV, Nicholas and Anne Iovino; dear brother to Josephine Romano; beloved uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend; predeceased by his parents, Anna (nee Vecchione) and Anthony Sr.

Tony was born in Westbury and lived there for 38 years. After graduating from high school, he joined his father’s general contracting company, Anthony Iovino Inc. He met his wife Barbara in 1954 at a Labor Day firemen’s tournament. In 1956, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, and shipped out to Korea with the 48th Combat Engineering Battalion. Upon his return, he married Barbara in 1958. Recalled to duty during the Berlin Crisis, he spent another year on active duty.

He joined the National Cash Register Co. in 1967 and moved to St. Louis in 1976 to join the McDonnell Douglas Automation Co. before retiring in 1998.

A member of the Westbury Volunteer Fire Department, Westbury Knights of Columbus Council #1012, Knights of Columbus Council #7119 of Ellisville, MO., he was active in many community organizations.
He enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and his pets. An avid sports fan, he followed his favorite teams, the football Giants, the Brooklyn Dodgers and the NY Mets. Tony cherished his family and his Catholic faith.

Services were held March 16 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Ellisville, MO with internment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests Masses, donations to the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America and the Humane Society of Missouri.
