On Tuesday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. the three candidates via for the open seat on the Manhasset Library board will speak to the Manhasset community about their candidacy.
The Manhasset Port Washington League of Women’s Voters are hosting the event. Come on down and here what each candidate has to say and what they bring to the table.
The discussion is sure to be lively.
Here is an excerpt from Bill Harvey, a Munsey Park resident, running for the seat.
” As a trustee, I hope to channel some of the best practices and lessons learned over a 20 year career in commercial real estate to assist the library in reaching its fullest potential. Part of this process involves ensuring that the physical structure of the property remains in good working order, but a bigger part must be forward-leaning. Much thought needs to be given to how we – as a community – maintain the digital advantage that the library now enjoys and how that benefit can be transferred to our students via cocurricular activities and other academic enrichment programs.
In a time of fiscal austerity, prudent financial management requires that we must also decide how to properly allocate resources for both current users and also for the generations to come.”
