Nassau County Police is investigating a burglary that occurred in Roslyn Heights in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 2. According to detectives, an unknown male subject (no description) entered into a Deer Run residence by shattering a basement sliding door and proceeded to a second floor bedroom at 12:43 a.m.
Police said he opened dresser drawers and went to a first floor master bedroom, opening drawers that woke up a 73-year-old female victim sleeping.
Police said the subject reached for a jewelry box on top of a dresser and then exited the home in an unknown direction. The jewelry box was dropped just before exiting the house.
There were no proceeds taken or injuries reported. Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
