Dan’s Dog Walking Expands

DansDogWalking_041515ADan’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting, a Port Washington-based pet care service provider that was founded in 2009, has just expanded into southwestern Connecticut, serving Stanford, Darien and Greenwich.

“This is our first major expansion,” said Dan Reitman, the company’s founder. “We originally only served Port Washington and Manhasset until we expanded our service area over the last few years to include Great Neck, Glen Cove, Glen Head, Sea Cliff, Old Brookville, Greenvale and surrounding areas,” he said. “We chose to expand to Connecticut after the idea was brought to our attention by our current Connecticut Field Manager Joseph Calamusa, and after further research, we found the area would be a perfect fit for our services.”

Calamusa, who has been with the company since 2013, will oversee the new Connecticut operation. “Joe has been an incredibly valuable asset since joining Dan’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting,” said Reitman. “He has helped in expanding the business to additional service areas on Long Island, including his hometown of Glen Cove, as well as Glen Head and Sea Cliff. He has also been instrumental in growing our team of pet care specialists as well as developing strategic marketing plans for our expansion into Connecticut.”

The company offers a variety of services, including 10-minute relief walks, 30-minute regular walks and 50-minute extended walks, according to its website, www.danspetcare.com.

“We also offer in-home overnight pet sitting where one of our pet care specialists can stay in a client’s home while they are on vacation, making it much easier on both the client and the pets,” Reitman said. “The company also offers medical visits, pet taxi services and food pick up.”

If a client is looking for additional services that may not be listed on the website, Reitman stated that they always do their best to accommodate any requests. “Another service that our clients love is the fact that we offer last-minute services, which is something most other companies do not offer,” he added. “So, if a client is stuck in the city for work or they need to go out of town for an emergency, we are there for them and their pets.”

Dan’s Dog Walking is now made up of 21 team members, including three field managers, 17 pet care specialists and Reitman. “Our company is made up of people who genuinely love what they do, and that’s because they really love animals,” Reitman said.
