Maggie, a single mother, moves into a new home in Brooklyn with her 12-year old son, Oliver. Sea Shell Collage For Kids

Back again for the third year in a row. Inspired by “sailor’s valentines” brought back to Long Island from the Caribbean in the 19th century, the Oyster Bay Historical Society invites all little mates to join in the fun creating their own collage from shells, sand and other dried, natural elements. Design your own background or choose from an assortment of sea life, ship or lighthouse pictures. Take home a unique, framed piece of art ready to be displayed as a family keepsake or a gift for Mom. Empire Safety Council Defensive Driving

Drivers of all ages can sharpen driving skills, receive auto insurance discounts and reduce violation points. The fee is $29 per person (only check or money order and one per person) due at time of in-person registration. From 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library. Checks should be made out to: Empire Safety Council. No refunds. On the day of class, bring your New York State driver’s license and a pen. Creepin’ Caterpillars

Movie At The Library

See Big Eyes at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library. Walter Keane became a worldwide celebrity and talk show fixture in the 1950s after he pioneered the mass production of prints of big-eyed kids, and used his marketing savvy to sell them cheaply. Unfortunately, he claimed to be the artist. That role was played by Margaret, his shy wife. The ruse broke up their marriage and led to a divorce and a dramatic courtroom battle to prove authorship of the paintings. Starring: Amy Adams, Christoph Waltz, Krysten Ritter, Jason Schwartzman. (Rated PG-13 for thematic elements and brief strong Language, 105 min.) 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Evening With Frank Sinatra

From 7 to 10 p.m. at St. Gertrude’s Parish Centre, Bayville. Bayville Friends of the Library present an evening of Sinatra tunes, starring Donny Farro. $20 per person advance tickets at the Bayville Library, or $25 per person at the door. BYOB cocktail hour, coffee and dessert.

Assemblyman Michael Montesano, in partnership with Nassau County, is sponsoring the KidPix Program in the Green Room of the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library from 2 to 4:30 p.m. You will receive an identification card with your child’s photo, scanned fingerprint and basic information. East Woods School Spring Fair

The annual fair takes place on Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. Fun for everyone: rides, games, silent auction, estate sale, raffles, vendor boutiques, plant and flower sale, and new this year, New York City gourmet food trucks and Battle of the Bands on Saturday at 4 p.m. At East Woods School Fairgrounds, 31 Yellow Cote Rd., Oyster Bay. Nature Walk
