Kroner School Takes Home Top Awards

"The Diary Of Anne Frank"The Albertson-based Hannah Kroner School of Dance competition team competed in the “Energy” and “Starpower ” Regional Dance Competitions on Long Island last month. The students, several of whom are from Roslyn, danced beautifully and returned winners of many outstanding awards including their entire team taking first place and five Stars for their production number of Newsies. Team co-coordinators in charge are Shannon McGuinness and Olivia Leinwohl, who helped create this production number along with Melanie Pinto and Samantha Witt.

The senior team received second place overall, five stars, a choreography award and invitation to Nationals for The Diary of Anne Frank, choreographed by Pinto.

I Want To Know What Love Is received third overall. Senior tappers in Step In Time, choreographed by Witt, received five stars and fourth place overall.

Nothing Wrong With That, a jazz routine, was sixth overall. The junior team received a special “Creative Dance Judges Award” for Give Us A Little Love by Olivia Leinwohl and You Don’t Own Me took ninth overall.

Soloist’s Emily Edwards won five stars while both Brigid Lynn and Jessica Sun took home 4-3/4 stars.

Edwards received division champion and 10th overall. The school’s director, Carol Riley, was so proud of the teams’ accomplishments and the special bond developed between each of the students involved.

The students and their teachers are all local residents of Roslyn, Manhasset, Port Washington, Great Neck, New Hyde Park, Williston Park, Mineola and Floral Park.

The mentioned dances will be performed again on Sunday, May 31 at 3 p.m. in the Hannah Kroner Dance performance titled “Broadway Rhythm” at Mineola High School at 10 Armstrong Rd. in Garden City Park.
