Josh Chaplin, a 2006 graduate of Great Neck South High School, recently received a third Emmy award at The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences 36th Annual Sports Emmy Awards on May 5, at Frederick P. Rose Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City. The Emmy award for “Outstanding Studio Show Daily” was for Chaplin’s work with a team of associate producers at MLB Network for the show MLB Tonight.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) is a professional service organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy Award for News & Documentary, Sports, Daytime Entertainment, Daytime Creative Arts & Entertainment, Public & Community Service and Technology & Engineering.
The awards were presented by a distinguished group of sports figures and television personalities. The Sports Emmy Award recipients were chosen by a Blue Ribbon Panel of industry peers. The awards recognize outstanding achievement by individuals and programs broadcast throughout the preceding calendar year.
Family members are proud to report that Chaplin pursued his “passion” for television production and editing starting in middle School with a Great Neck School District teacher (Bob Gluck) who, at the time, ran the TV studio for South Middle School and South High School. Chaplin went on to receive a BFA
in Television Production from
NYIT Manhattan.
Chaplin has worked as a freelancer for MLB Network since shortly
after his graduation in 2006. He has also done freelance work for various production companies that enabled him to do projects for Fox Sports
live and Bravo network. He was recently offered a staff position at MLB Network.
