A 66-year-old Roslyn Heights man died on Friday, June 12 after he fell off the roof of his Shephered Lane home, Nassau County police announced. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for head trauma, but was pronounced dead at 10:17 p.m.
According to detectives, Elliot Wertheim of Roslyn Heights was found by a family member who called 911 after he was found lying face down on his patio and not breathing, police said. Wertheim had been repairing part of the home’s roof before he fell. Third Precinct police officers responded and performed CPR on the victim before rushing him to the hospital.
Authorities said there’s no apparent criminality at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
