Pajama Storytime

Wear your favorite pajamas and bring along a stuffed animal to listen to some bedtime books and sing songs at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 7 p.m. For kids ages 3 to 6, with adult. Registration started on July 2 for OB-EN residents and begins on July 22 for non-residents, space permitting.

Healthy Lifestyle Tips To Prevent Illness

Robert Romanelli, D.C. will present this life-changing lecture on Functional Medicine at the Locust Valley Library, 7 p.m. Learn simple steps that will enhance your health and help prevent disease. Most chronic diseases are caused by unhealthy lifestyle habits. Learn about adopting habits that may delay the onset of illness and possibly reverse disease progression and risk factors. Find small, treasured items from the past. This sale includes a variety of cherished valuables such as small furniture, art, décor, and more. Nassau County Property Tax Exemptions Workshop

Department of Assessment staff will assist any homeowner who would like to file for the Basic and Enhanced STAR, Veterans, Senior Citizen, Cold War Veterans, Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers, Limited Income Disability, or Home Improvement exemption on-site. Make copies of any documentation that is required prior to the workshop. There is no registration; the workshop is first come, first served. Music Under The Stars

See Chicken Head (rock and blues) perform at the Incorporated Village of Bayville’s Music Under the Stars, an annual free summer concert series at West Harbor Memorial Beach in Bayville. The concerts are Friday evenings from 8 to 10 p.m. (weather permitting) and are free to the general public.

Dancing In The Streets

The Friday night dancing series continues this week at the bandstand on Audrey Avenue with Mark James. The dancing takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Audrey Avenue around the Bandstand.  Bring a chair if desired. For more information, visit www.oysterbaymainstreet.org.

Fingerprinting Workshop

A teen program for those entering fifth through 12th grade as of September, at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 11 a.m.

Use real feather brushes and nontoxic powders to dust for fingerprints. Also learn how to lift and analyze fingerprints. Use magnetic fingerprint powder and applicators to learn this unique dusting technique often used to uncover latent fingerprints on paper-based substances. Presented by Jr. Crime Investigators, Inc. 35th Annual Chicken BBQ

The Village Church of Bayville holds its 35th annual chicken barbeque from 4 to 7 p.m. The chicken dinner includes half grilled chicken with corn on the cob, potato salad, tomato, watermelon and beverage. Eat in or take out, rain or shine. Donation: $15 for adults, $7 for children under 12. Major credit cards accepted. The church is at 9 Mountain Ave. in Bayville. Hair Braiding

For kids ages 5 to 12, at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Yormah Generette, master braider, will provide a historical perspective on hair braiding, lead a question and answer period and provide each child with a braid of two colorful extensions and beads. Register in the children’s room or by calling 516-922-1212. Registration started on July 6 for OB-EN residents and starts on July 25 for non-residents, space permitting.

Introduction to Meditation

This is a three class series: Mondays July 27, Aug. 3 and 10, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library. Meditation enables people to enter the calm, still center of their being where awareness of the interconnectedness of all life resides. This practice teaches us to live in the present moment, lessens the effects of stress, and supports healing and health. Each session is unique and complete in itself. Participants will experience different forms of meditation, including Mindfulness, Breathing, Guided and Moving Meditations. Presented by Karen Kaelin, MS, MA, CHC. Healthy Meal Planning

Holistic health and food coach Eileen Weilbacher will be at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library to demonstrate how to store and prepare food for healthy meals as well as how to repurpose leftovers. A teen program for those entering fifth through 12th grade as of September, at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 2 p.m. Learn to draw your favorite comic book or manga character with comic artist Peter Simeti. Food Pantry

The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays 11 a.m. to noon. If you are in need of their services at other times, please call Pastor Diane at 516-922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.

Hats Off! Exhibition

Hats Off!, the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s summer exhibition, is currently on view in the society’s Angela Koenig Center at 20 Summit St. in Oyster Bay, through Sept. 13. Hats Off! An Assembly of Extraordinary Headwear from the Society’s Collection features men’s and women’s hats from the 20th century, along with athletic gear and military helmets.
