During the first week in August, two Roslyn area locations will be used as second-half 2015 general tax local collection sites for Town of North Hempstead residents.
On Monday, Aug. 3, from 1 to 2 p.m., taxes can be paid at Hector Gayle Roslyn Community Center, 53 Orchard St., Roslyn Heights.
On Friday, Aug. 7, from noon to 2 p.m., they can be paid at John D. Caemmerer Park, Wentworth Ave., Albertson.
Charles Berman, the town’s receiver of taxes, said that the last day to pay the second-half bill without a penalty is Monday, Aug. 10. The U.S. Postal Service must postmark mailed payments on or before that day to avoid a penalty. By law, office postage meters are not official postmarks. Berman recommends that taxpayers mailing payments on the last day have their payments hand stamped at the post office to ensure a timely postmark.
Berman said that his office¬¬, located at 200 Plandome Rd., Manhasset will be open on Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
