At Steppingstone Park this Saturday, August 15, the Summer of Love takes on a whole new meaning when Sixties Rock Experience brings you back to the sights and sounds of the Woodstock era. This is an authentic ’60s musical production tribute, accurately recreating the music of that time, with similarities to icons such as Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, Joe Cocker, Grace Slick, Ian Anderson and so many more.
In addition to being absolutely captivated by the frontline tribute artists, you will be awestruck at the versatility of the band. And, when the vocalists are not front and center for their own headline moments, they also double as background singers for their fellow performers.
Sunday, August 16, North Shore Music Festival presents Puccini in two shortened versions of Giacomo Puccini operas, “Gianni Schicchi” and “Il Tabarro.” These operas are from Puccini’s Il Trittico, a collection of three one-act operas.
In the comedic “Schicchi,” rich old Buoso Donati dies, upsetting his family terribly when they discover he left his wealth to the church. Then, in walks Gianni Schicchi to their apparent rescue.
“Il Tabarro” is another ‘squarcio di vita’ slice of life, in the verismo style, complete with an unhappy marriage, a cheating wife and a suspecting and rather violent husband. Both operas are conducted by Anthony LaGruth, directed by Benjamin Spierman and performed by Adam Cromer, Eric McKeever and Julie Radosz.
Performances begin at 8 p.m. All performances are for Great Neck Park District residents only. Admission is free to Park District residents with a valid park card. Park cards will be checked when parking and at the gate.
Each park card holder is allowed to bring two guests into the park, who MUST be signed in. There are limited park chairs available, but it’s recommended that show attendees bring along a blanket or chair to sit on.
Avoid the traffic and arrive early (before 6 p.m.) with a picnic for dinner.
In case of rain, check www.cancellations.com or www.great neckparks.org for location of performance. Either Great Neck North High School or the Parkwood Sports Complex will be the rain location, which is yet to be determined.
Free bus service will be available to Steppingstone and return buses will start 10 minutes after the show ends. Be sure to bring your current Park District park card. Cards are checked at the entrance and you will not be able to enter without your park card.

The bus is subject to cancellation or change according to public usage. Street parking in the Village of Kings Point is permitted as posted and rules will be strictly enforced.
