Roslyn-based Wm. E. Martin & Sons Co. has received certification to the BRC Global Standard for Agents and Brokers, making it one of the 45 companies worldwide and only the second company in the United States to be accredited to the coveted standard.
The award is given by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Agents and Brokers. The standard focuses on providing the framework to manage product safety and quality in the food industry. The audit was performed by Dr. Ron Kill of Micron2 based in the United Kingdom.
“As one of the largest importers of spices in the United States, we are dedicated to ensuring that our spices are sourced from trusted suppliers that meet the highest food safety standards,” said Spencer Martin, vice president. “Having achieved BRC Certification for the Agents and Brokers Standard helps demonstrate our commitment to food safety.”
The new standard was created in 2014 by the British based organization to promote best practices for food companies, including ones that specialize in importation and product distribution.
Founded in 1917, Wm. E. Martin & Sons Co., Inc. is one of the oldest importers of spices in the United States, carrying a full line of spices, seeds, herbs and allied products for the food trade.
