The Ramp Family Caribbean Band will be performing at Firefighters’ Park this Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 8 p.m.
“We are excited to have the Ramp Family Caribbean Band return to Firefighters’ Park to perform,” said Village of Great Neck Plaza Mayor Jean Celender. “The Ramp Family Caribbean Band puts on a spectacular show, and they always know how to get concertgoers up on their feet dancing to the music of the Caribbean. We would like to thank the concert’s cosponsors, Nemat Development and Richland Management, for their support of our 2015 Summer Concert Series.”
Gerald Rampersad, the patriarch of the Ramp Family Caribbean Band, has been recognized as one of the most influential Caribbean saxophonists in the tristate area. His combination of calypso, reggae, jazz and East Indian influences has made him a unique and well-accomplished musician. Born into a family of musicians, Rampersad grew up playing music with his four uncles, all of whom who are well respected artists in Trinidad and Tobago. He has played with some of the greatest Caribbean artists in the U.S., Europe, India and Jamaica.
In the event of inclement weather on the day of the performance, the concert will be moved to the Great Neck Social Center at 80 Grace Ave. To verify the location, check with Village Hall staff, visit www.greatneckplaza.net or call 516-482-4500 after 5 p.m. for a recorded message clarifying whether the concert has been relocated from Firefighters’ Park to the Social Center.
