It was a great summer season for the FLG Select teams. The teams were lead by a strong group of Port Washington boys who dominated play throughout the summer. Andy Feinstein, Christo Freitas, Bradley Hamroff, Tommy Kenny, Benjamin Krefetz and James Tyras were leaders for the 2022 boys select team, while Matthew Hillman, Sam Johnson, Lucas Kai Kirkman, Chase Pastolove, Luke Ventura, Ben Caccavo and Jack Marcus all played important roles in the 2023 select team’s success. Feinstein, Kenny and Ventura were great in the midfield, controlling the tempo of the game, while Freitas, Krefetz, Hillman, Kirkman, Pastolove and Marcus ripped corners to put their team on the board. The defense from Tyras, Johnson and Caccavo was also impressive, as they kept teams out of scoring position. Hamroff was a brick wall for his team in goal, shutting down his opponents. Director Corey Winkoff said of the boys, “Port Washington is an up-and-coming town at the youth level. They have tremendous talent and great group of parents that teach the game the right way. It’s a privilege to have all these Port kids in our program. We look forward to working with them throughout the years and continue watching them grow as players and students of the game.”
