The Port Washington Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual installation of officers and directors at a special dinner to be held at Ayhan’s Fish Kebab Restaurant on Sept. 30. The swearing-in ceremonies will be performed by State Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, Town Councilwoman Dina DeGiorgio and Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth. In addition, the chamber will present the 2015 Community Service Award to the Baxter’s Pond Foundation.

The chamber dinners are known for their enjoyable, casual atmosphere. The festivities are always light-hearted, as Warren Schein, chamber copresident, is the emcee for the evening’s ceremonies. He brings a little laughter and lots of pride in the chamber’s accomplishments to the occasion. The chamber’s other copresident is Mitch Schwartz, whom many in town know for his vast knowledge of computers as well as his involvement in other organizations and many worthy causes.

The Chamber of Commerce officers for 2015-16 are: 1st Vice President Debbie Greco Cohen, 2nd Vice President Anne Arter, 3rd Vice President Catherine O’Neill, Secretary Wendy Collett and Treasurer Leslie Ann Jacobi.

The directors are: Jerry Baldassaro, Katherine Crean, Mariann Dalimonte, Beth Michalson Fiore, Patrick J. Gillespie, C.P.A. (chamber accountant), William Gordon, Anthony Guzzello, Ayhan Hassan, David Heller, Carl Lalena, Kathy Levinson, Hal Linden, Kenneth Magida, Marie Marcellino, Selwyn “Jerry” Rudnick, Laurie Scheinman, Ilene Silberstein and Kenneth R. Tuch, Esq. (chamber attorney).
The chamber’s past presidents are Howard Blankman, Roy Smitheimer and Richard Strautman. Board members Emeriti are James Eisenman, Richard Garofalo, Phyllis Joseph, J.P. Shields and Edna Turner. Bobbie Polay is the chamber’s executive director.
