Volunteers Needed
The Plainedge Public Library is looking for Plainedge School District volunteers in grade six and up for children’s crafts/activities during the 2015-16 school year. All applicants are accepted into a pool of eligible volunteers who will be called upon from time to time during the year. There will also be an opportunity to volunteer for Plainedge Public Library’s Fall Festival to be held on Nov. 3. Application packets are now available from the children’s services staff. 11th Annual Harvest Fair
The Grace Church annual Harvest Fair is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature farmer’s market produce, pumpkins, cornstalks, hay bales, mums, baked goods and homemade jams and jellies. Kathy’s Komfort Food featuring stews, soups, quiches and a crafts table with handmade gifts and more will also be available. Cancer Walk-a-thon
The annual Long Island League to Abolish Cancer walk-a-thon will be held at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m. A $25 donation to walk is required and walkers receive one free T-shirt. A family donation is $50 with two T-shirts per family. Eighth Annual Walk For Autism
The walk will benefit the Fay J. Lindner Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities and will take place at John J. Burns Town Park on Merrick Road in Massapequa. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m., followed by a tailgate party. The event will be held rain or shine. Registration is $10 for individual walkers or $25 for a family (up to five walkers). Each registered walker will receive a T-shirt and admission to the tailgate party. Registration for 41st Annual Rag-A-Muffin Parade
Register for the parade from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the Italian Feast on North Broadway at the fire department booth. This year’s costume parade will take place on Oct. 25 at noon. All children who participate must be registered. Online registration is also available at www.nmfd660.com.

The Bar Harbour library will host a talk non overspending and debt sponsored by Debtors Anonymous at 7 p.m. in the Bar Harbour meeting room. Members will share their experience and focus on bringing recovery to people with debt issues, under-earning and money-related anxiety.
