Roslyn Homecoming This Weekend

On Saturday, Oct. 3, Roslyn High School homecoming celebrations will take place all throughout the day.

This year, there is not one, but two athletic events for sports fans to enjoy. At 3 p.m. on Oct. 3, the Bulldog football squad will take the field against Island Trees. The day before, on Friday, Oct. 2, the boys’ soccer team will take on Division High School of Levittown in a 4:45 p.m. home game. And to round out the busy weekend, the annual Greg Fried Memorial 5K Run/Walk will also take place on Oct. 3, beginning at 8 a.m. at the high school. To register visit www.roslynbulldogs5K.org.

The festivities will get into full swing with the annual Homecoming Parade, which will begin at 12:45 p.m. in front of Roslyn High School. The parade will go through the Village of Roslyn and conclude at the high school.

Participating in the parade are the Roslyn fire departments, students, staff, parents, clubs and teams.

Roslyn High School Principal Dr. Scott Andrews encourages the community to carry their enthusiasm and spirit from the parade into the football game. Opening ceremonies begin at 2:40 p.m. before the game. The Marching Bulldogs, Roslyn High School’s award-winning marching band, will perform during halftime.

All of the Roslyn schools will be celebrating Spirit Week in anticipation of homecoming. And it all culminates the soccer game, the Greg Fried run, the parade, the football game and the band performance. It promises to be a fun and memorable weekend and so let’s all get out of the house and give the outstanding young people of the Roslyn community the support they deserve.
